فمكث الهدهد زمنًا غير بعيد ثم حضر فعاتبه سليمان على مغيبه وتخلُّفه، فقال له الهدهد: علمت ما لم تعلمه من الأمر على وجه الإحاطة، وجئتك من مدينة "سبأ" بـ "اليمن" بخبر خطير الشأن، وأنا على يقين منه.
